The top colour trends of 2014

What have the most popular colours been this year? This infographic reveals all.

We're all creative people, and no one likes to follow trends. At the same time, though, it's good to know what they are. But how do you decide whether something is a trend or not?
When it comes to colour trends, stock image library Shutterstock's answer to that question is: by analysing the data. Using data from customer downloads from its collection of 40 million images, it's come up with what it considers some pretty conclusive results.
They've presented these results in the form of an infographic, which you can check out below. Click on the image to see a high-res version.

Use the template provided to design your DC Trase and you could win $10,000 and have your winning design produced and sold at and select DC Shoes retailers.

In addition to one overall winner, DC will have the option to select one or more additional winners, whose designs may be put into production. These selected artists, along with the artist with the largest amount of support from the community, will receive $2,500.

The Official Rules for this Creative Invite are available here.

So start creating now. The DC Trase Shoe. Make it yours.

DC Shoes, along with their panel of guest judges, will select from all qualified submissions. A qualified submission is one which meets all the Terms & Conditions, Guidelines and Official Rules.

The community can support their favorite submissions through social voting via Facebook and Twitter. The artist with the largest public support will be chosen as the Community Choice.

Should there be more than one design they would like to use, in addition to one Overall winner and the Community Choice winner, DC Shoes will have the option to select one or more additional winners, who will receive $2,500 per design.

  • Artists must include a description about their submission and about themselves.
  • Artists must have an up-to-date Talenthouse profile.
  • Selected Artists must respond to Talenthouse within 7 days of receiving the notification email or else all prizes will be forfeited and DC may select an alternate winner.

Typeface Memory Game

Typeface Memory Game

Brazilian studio PS2 designed a typeface memory game called "The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog," which offers 25 variations of the letter "a." Great practice for children and adults alike, the game is one of those rare products that succeeds in a trifecta of aesthetics, education and entertainment.

After playing the game, which asks players to match corresponding letterforms, players will increasingly recognize the subtle differences between the letters. Some of the letter types included in the game: Akzidenz Grotesk, Baskerville, Centaur, Garamond, Helvetica, Rockwell, Times New Roman, and Univers. A classy bunch, to be sure.

It is currently being printed and distributed by BIS Publishers and can be yours for just € 19,90 ($27.00 US) Buy it now from BIS or Amazon.

Designing book covers ( kopipesediseng )

A quick bit of book cover inspiration.
The advantage of designing covers for a series/collection of books is that you can approach it like so…
Oliver Sacks book cover design
Designed by New-York based Cardon Webb for Oliver Sacks. Via Design Milk.
Like so…
Angus Hyland book cover design
Designed by Angus Hyland of Pentagram for a series of Laurence King books.
So, and like so…
Penguin book cover designs by YES
Designed by London-based YES Studio for Penguin.
In addition, here’s an excellent cover design resource: The Book Cover Archive, “for the appreciation and categorization of excellence in book cover design,” edited and maintained by Ben Pieratt of General Projects and Eric Jacobsen of Whisky Van Gogh Go.
More than 1,300 covers can be searched by designer, title, author, publisher, publication date, art director, photographer, illustrator, typeface, and genre.

9 Step Mudah Untuk Graduan Muda Bijak Mengurus Wang

4. Jangan beli kereta baru yang mahal-mahal. Graduan yang bijak tak terus beli kereta yang setiap tahun harganya pasti turun.
5. Dah bergatal bercinta, terus lah fikir bagaimana berkahwin tanpa perlu berhutang. Menabung. Elakkan jadi raja sehari seterusnya jadi hamba bank 10 tahun. Kalau tak mahu menabung, jangan langsung berfikir nak mengurat anak dara orang.
6. Beli aset sikit-sikit. Mula dengan modal yang rendah sahaja dulu. Apa-apa aset. Bajet khas pelaburan pertama.
7. Buat bajet siap-siap untuk:
  • Beri duit kepada mak bapak setiap bulan.
  • Bersedekah setiap bulan.
  • Melaksanakan ibadah korban setiap tahun.
Masuk sahaja fasa ke-2, iaitu 7 tahun kedua, tuan pasti tersenyum lebar…
